Plus there's the thing i've always observed: the best performers in a field tend to be not the best teachers of it. I'd suggest picking up the basics elsewhere, and then rereading the book. The confusion is because of the name of the book, it makes you think he'll start from zero and build you up to his level, which he doesn't do. That's because he tends to assume people already know how to do a highlight or stuff like this, which are in general prerrequisites for his Masterclasses. If you peruse his blog and Facebook, you'll see he has giving some of these for years, only with little explanation (you think he skips steps now? you should see his early "step by step" posts).
